Looking after cast iron

Care and use

  1. Wash thoroughly in warm soapy water before first use; hand wash immediately after use in hot soapy water and dry immediately, as cast iron will rust.
  2. After drying, lightly coat the inside with cooking oil and heat for a minute over low heat to restore seasoning.
  3. Do not use detergents, scouring pads or abrasive cleaners; do not submerge in water; do not put an empty pan on a hot hob; do not pour cold water into a hot pan.
  4. Not dishwasher or microwave safe; always use an oven glove or cloth when handling hot pans.
  5. Acacia trivets: wash in warm soapy water, dry immediately, oil occasionally, not dishwasher safe.
