Looking after your cutlery
Washing
- Rinse in clean water after cooking and after every use, before the items go into the dishwasher.
- Dishwasher: with a few exceptions V&B's cutlery sets are dishwasher-safe. Use a suitable dishwasher detergent, make sure no corrosive salt enters the cycle, and leave space between the items.
- Knives: hand washing is gentler and keeps knives sharp longer; the dishwasher can accelerate blunting.
Shine and stains
- Take items out of the dishwasher soon: water stains can appear if they are left, or if too much detergent is used.
- Restore the shine of stainless steel with a little baking soda and lemon juice, or a fine polishing paste of chalk and alcohol.
- Avoid steel wool or abrasive materials; use soft lint-free sponges and cloths.
