Looking after your cutlery

Washing

  1. Rinse in clean water after cooking and after every use, before the items go into the dishwasher.
  2. Dishwasher: with a few exceptions V&B's cutlery sets are dishwasher-safe. Use a suitable dishwasher detergent, make sure no corrosive salt enters the cycle, and leave space between the items.
  3. Knives: hand washing is gentler and keeps knives sharp longer; the dishwasher can accelerate blunting.

Shine and stains

  1. Take items out of the dishwasher soon: water stains can appear if they are left, or if too much detergent is used.
  2. Restore the shine of stainless steel with a little baking soda and lemon juice, or a fine polishing paste of chalk and alcohol.
  3. Avoid steel wool or abrasive materials; use soft lint-free sponges and cloths.
