Care and use

Looking after your Villeroy & Boch cutlery

Washing

  1. Rinse first: rinse cutlery in clean water after every use to remove larger food remnants before it goes into the dishwasher.
  2. Dishwasher: with a few exceptions Villeroy & Boch cutlery is dishwasher-safe; use a suitable detergent, make sure no corrosive salt enters the cycle, and leave space between pieces.
  3. Afterwards: take cutlery out soon after washing and do not use too much detergent, to avoid water stains.
  4. Knives: Villeroy & Boch generally does not recommend washing knives in the dishwasher, which can dull sharp blades; wash by hand with lukewarm water, a non-abrasive sponge and a mild washing-up liquid.

Shine and storage

  1. Restoring shine: for stainless steel, a paste of baking soda and water or a little lemon juice or citric acid on a soft cloth, then rinse and dry thoroughly; avoid steel wool and abrasives.
  2. Silver: clean silver cutlery separately from stainless steel, and store it dry and airtight.
