Care and use

Looking after your ceramics

Before first use

  1. First use: remove any labels or packaging, then wash, rinse and dry before first use.

Use

  1. Thermal shock: do not subject the product to sudden extreme changes in temperature, such as direct from a freezer to a hot oven or grill.
  2. Stock rotation: adequate stock for correct rotation and careful handling will extend the life of your products.
  3. Matt glazed and coloured products tend to show wear and tear to a greater degree than standard glazed white items, and like all matt glazes, cutlery could mark it.

Dishwashing

  1. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for wash temperature, rinse cycle and detergent dosage; assess water hardness and use water softeners if required.
  2. Wash promptly after each use. Use plastic or rubber scrapers to remove food residue, as metal utensils or abrasives may damage the glazed surface.
  3. Never wash cutlery or other metal items amongst ceramic products; wash them separately in cutlery baskets.

Storage

  1. Use the appropriate racks where possible, and make sure handles and spouts do not knock together.
  2. Keep contact with metal surfaces to a minimum to reduce metal marking; plastic or rubber mats on metal surfaces help.
