Care and use

Looking after your porcelain

Cleaning

  1. Wash, rinse and dry before first use, and remove any labels or packaging.
  2. Wash promptly after each use.
  3. Use plastic or rubber scrapers to remove food residue, as metal utensils or abrasives may damage the glazed surface.
  4. Never wash cutlery or other metal items amongst ceramic products; wash them separately.

Use

  1. Matt glazed and coloured products tend to show wear and tear to a greater degree than standard glazed white items; like all matt glazes, cutlery could mark them.
  2. Avoid sudden extreme changes in temperature, such as direct from a freezer to a hot oven or grill, to reduce the possibility of thermal shock.

Storage and handling

  1. Use the appropriate racks where possible.
  2. Make sure handles and spouts do not knock together when stored, as this can wear the glaze.
  3. Keep contact with metal surfaces to a minimum; plastic or rubber mats can line metal surfaces.
