Care and use
Looking after your cutlery and fine crystal
Cutlery: Cleaning
- Dishwasher: follow the instructions that come with your dishwasher, and use a liquid detergent or a cream, not powder.
- Knives: load with the blade pointing downwards for safety. Take special care: the blades have a higher carbon content, which creates a sharper cutting edge but is also more prone to corrosion.
- Rinse or wash after use: prolonged contact with salt, vinegar, egg, acidic fruits, detergents or some of the mineral salts in tap water can cause pitting and staining.
Cutlery: Drying and polishing
- Hand-dry with a soft cloth shortly after the wash cycle has finished.
- Stains: polish away with a stainless steel polish.
Cutlery: Avoid
- Rinse and hold cycles: cutlery left in a damp atmosphere can become stained or damaged.
- Mixing silver-plated and stainless steel items in the same cycle.
- Wire wool or abrasive cleaners, which may scratch the stainless steel.
- Soaking stainless steel cutlery or storing it in damp conditions, as this may cause staining and require polishing.
Fine crystal glassware
- Handle with the highest of care: handmade fine crystal glass.
- Wash soon after use, by hand with warm water or in a glass washer on your dishwasher's glassware setting or between 45-55 degrees. Keep the washer limescale and salt free to sustain brilliance.
- Rack carefully: place glassware standing yet stable and not touching, to avoid indelible scratches or cracks through vibration. A glass rack is recommended for professional use.
- Dry: as soon as the wash cycle has finished, open to release the steam and let the fine crystal air dry. If more polishing is needed, use a microfibre cloth, dry carefully, let the glass cool thoroughly and store carefully.
