Care and use

Looking after Churchill ceramics

Cleaning

  1. On delivery inspect all items and wash twice before putting into service.
  2. Wash within 30-40 minutes of use; remove and rinse leftover food immediately, using a plastic spatula to avoid metal marking.
  3. Dishwasher: follow the manufacturer's advice on detergent and rinse aid, clean the dishwasher regularly to prevent limescale, and never put detergent directly onto the tableware.
  4. Use a non-abrasive pad to remove stains, and do not mix cutlery and ceramics when cleaning.

Storage

  1. Air dry before stacking, and do not stack hot, wet ceramics.
  2. Store on high-grade stainless steel shelves or shelf mats to avoid metal marking, and keep ceramics, metal and glassware separate.
  3. Only stack items designed to be stacked, and do not over-stack or mix-stack with other suppliers' tableware, particularly items with an unglazed foot.

Warming

  1. Warm gradually and evenly, avoiding big temperature swings such as fridge straight to a hot oven.

Preventing scratches and metal marking

  1. Lift, don't slide; place plates centrally when stacking and avoid excessive pressure on the surface.
  2. Metal marks can usually be removed with proprietary products, in line with the manufacturer's guidelines.
