Care and use

Looking after Churchill ceramics

Cleaning

  1. On delivery inspect all items and wash twice before putting into service.
  2. After use remove and rinse leftover food immediately; use a plastic spatula to avoid metal marking; wash within 30-40 minutes of use.
  3. Detergent follow the manufacturer's recommendations on quantity and type of detergent and rinse aids; don't put detergent directly onto dinnerware.
  4. Stains use a non-abrasive pad.
  5. Dishwasher clean it regularly to prevent limescale build-up; don't mix cutlery and ceramics when cleaning.

Storage

  1. Drying allow items to air dry before stacking.
  2. Shelving store preferably on high-grade stainless steel shelves or shelf mats, and keep ceramics, metal and glassware separate.
  3. Stacking don't stack hot wet ceramics, items not designed to be stacked, or mix-stack with other suppliers' tableware (particularly with an unglazed foot); don't over-stack.

Preventing scratches and metal marking

  1. Lift, don't slide place plates centrally when stacking and avoid excessive pressure on the surface.
  2. Cutlery lower-grade cutlery is softer and more prone to leave marks.
  3. Metal marks can usually be removed with proprietary products, in line with manufacturer guidelines.
  4. Aluminium don't put hot wet dishes into contact with aluminium surfaces.

Warming

  1. Warm gradually and evenly avoid big temperature variations, such as fridge straight to a hot oven.
  2. Metallics don't put items decorated with metallics (gold, silver, bronze) in the microwave or dishwasher.
